Shawn Pynes is the Director of the Employee Benefits Division for Marsh & McLennan Agency’s West region. He is responsible for the division’s overall leadership and strategic direction. Since joining the firm in 2002, Shawn has been a driving force behind the division’s rapid growth.
Shawn began his insurance career with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company in San Francisco and later moved to Seattle where he was the Manager for Mass Mutual’s Northwest Group office. He later transferred back to the Bay Area as the Vice President for First Health, the nation’s largest TPA. There, he managed the Northern California Sales and Service office. In addition to working for several large insurance companies and TPAs, Shawn also founded a reinsurance marketing firm specializing in Stop-Loss Insurance for large employers. Prior to joining MMA, Shawn held the position of Vice President for PacifiCare where he was responsible for management of its Northern California Sales and Service offices.
Shawn serves on the Health Care Committee of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of the Council of Employee Benefits Executives. He also currently serves on several regional and national carrier broker advisory boards and is a member of two national study groups through Assurex Global and Reagan Consulting Group.
Shawn is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of California where he earned his degree in political science.
